Sign our Petition Calling for Means Testing of Brown Bin Charges in East Herts
East Herts Council has now introduced a chargeable garden waste service with an annual charge of £49.
Though we undertand that the Council's finances are stretched, East Herts Liberal Democrat councillors called for this charge to be deferred as it did not include separate provision for food waste, would be bad for the environment and lacked any concessions for residents who are unable to meet this cost.
We pushed hard for there to be concession rates for those on low incomes as we are concerned that this charge will leave many people unable to dispose of their garden waste.
Though our requests at Full Council were not supported, we will continue to push for change. Therefore we have launched a petition calling on East Herts Council to apply means testing to this service. Please sign our petition by entering your details below.
